Inner Disc Brake Pad (1) - Install
- Position the brake caliper to the caliper bracket.
- CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Brake Caliper Guide Pin Bolt (1) - Install 47 N.m (35 lb ft)
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
- Slowly release the brake pedal.
- Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 8-9 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
- Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir to the maximum-full level with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling
- Burnish the brake pads and rotors. Brake Pad and Rotor Burnishing
The phenolic brake caliper piston can be damaged if it contacts the edges of the brake pads upon installation. To avoid phenolic brake caliper piston damage, carefully hold the brake pads against the rotor and do NOT allow the caliper piston to contact the edges of the brake pads while installing the caliper. If the brake caliper piston sustains any damage, the entire caliper will need to be replaced.
