Removal Procedure

    Remove the engine wiring harness guide (1) from the cylinder head.

  2. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector (2).
  3. NOTE:

    Note the arrow on the cover.

  4. Remove the cover of the ignition coil in the direction of the arrow.
  5. Remove the ignition coil bolts.

    Install the EN-6009  remover/installer (1).

  7. Remove the ignition coil (2).
  8. Remove the EN-6009  remover/installer (1).

    NOTE:

    Remove boots with the coils in the horizontal position. Install new springs and boots with coils pointing up to ensure the spring stays in the coil and is centered. The new boot is fully seated when it is within 1 mm (0.040 inch) of the metal shield.

    If removing the coil boot (1) perform the following:

    1. Insert suitable compressed air nozzle (2) into the boot. Ensure the air nozzle is inserted in the boot enough to form a tight seal between the air nozzle and boot.
    2. Push the air nozzle button (3) to inject compressed air into the boot. Inject compressed air into the boot until the boot is removed from the metal shield.
    3. Remove the coil boot.
