Compressor Control
Compressor operation is controlled by the compressor clutch solenoid which is energized by owner selector lever settings. However, clutch solenoid action may be further limited by the compressor ambient control switch mounted integrally with the ambient sensor to sense the temperature of outside air entering the system. Whenever the temperature of outside air entering the system falls to approximately 25°F the ambient switch opens the circuit to the clutch solenoid and prevents compressor operation regardless of the selector lever setting. On rising outside air temperatures the ambient switch closes at approximately 36°F and restores circuitry to the clutch solenoid.
NOTE:
At temperatures above the set point of the ambient switch the compressor operates whenever the ignition switch is ON except when the selector lever is placed in either VENT or OFF.
