Install piston to rod with notch or arrow and hole on piston facing toward front of engine and rod bearing tang slot opposite camshaft, Figs. 16 and 17 Upon installation, measure the connecting rod side clearance using a suitable feeler gauge. Measurement taken should be as follows:
