Draining & Refilling

  1. With vehicle raised and drain pan placed under transmission, remove front and side transmission oil pan bolts. Loosen rear pan bolts approximately 4 turns each.
  2. Pry pan loose carefully with screwdriver, allowing fluid to drain. Remove remaining bolts and oil pan with gasket attached. Remove screen/filter-to-valve body bolts and remove screen filter with gasket.
  3. Thoroughly clean pan with solvent and dry with compressed air. Install new gasket or "O" rings lubricated with clean oil into new screen/filter assembly and install screen/filter assembly to transmission.
  4. Use new pan gasket and install pan. Add proper amount of fluid to transmission through filler tube and start engine in "PARK" position with parking brake set.
  5. With engine idling, move selector lever through all positions, ending in "PARK". Check fluid level and add as required.
NOTE: DO NOT  overfill. See CHECKING FLUID LEVEL  .
