Programmable Read Only Memory: Removal
- Remove ECM as previously described. Remove PROM access cover. Note position of PROM before removal. Reference boss on PROM should be aligned with dimple in carrier.
- Grasp narrow ends of PROM with PROM removal tool. Gently rock carrier from end to end while applying firm upward force until PROM is removed.
NOTE:
PROMs are not interchangeable from generation to generation. Be sure part number of replacement PROM matches original PROM.
