Turn Signal Switch Assembly, Buzzer Switch Assembly, And Steering Column Lock Cylinder Set: Installation

  1. Install turn signal connector through lock housing cover (15) and steering column housing shroud (48).
  2. Install steering column lock cylinder set (16) while in "Accessory" position.
  3. Install lock retaining screw (13) and torque to 2.5 N.m (22 lbs. in.).
  4. Install buzzer switch (10). Push switch down into its retaining bore until bottomed with plastic tab covering lock retaining screw (13).
  5. Connect buzzer switch wires to turn signal switch connector. Light Green wire to Location 9 and Tan/Black wire to Location 10. See Figure . Wire terminal retainer must be removed and discarded from service buzzer switch wire.
  6. Install wire connector retainer.
  7. Install turn signal switch connector.
  8. Install wire protector (37).
  9. Install turn signal switch (9).
  10. Install screws (8) and torque to 6.8 N.m (59 lbs. in.). Position turn signal switch (9) so that screws (8) can be installed through openings switch.
  11. Install turn signal lever. Tighten torque screw to 6 N.m (53 lbs. in.). Turn signal switch (9) must be in "Neutral" position to install upper bearing spring (7).
  12. Install upper bearing spring (7).
  13. Install turn signal cancel cam assembly (6).
  14. Install steering shaft lock (5).
  15. Install shaft lock retainer (4) to upper steering shaft (40) using J 23653-A to slightly depress shaft lock (5).
  16. Install carrier snap ring retainer (3).
  17. Install steering shaft bumper (2).
  18. Extend shaft (40) and lock in place.
  19. Install steering wheel.
  20. Install jam nut (1) and torque to 41 N.m (30 lbs. ft.).
  21. Remove lock plate compression screw J 23653-10.
