Turn Signal Switch Assembly, Buzzer Switch Assembly, And Steering Column Lock Cylinder Set: Removal
- Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL
.
- Remove steering shaft bumper (2).
- Remove carrier snap ring retainer (3). Lock plate compressor screw J 23653-10 must be installed and torqued to 4.5 N.m (40 lbs. in.) in upper steering shaft (40) to keep shaft from telescoping.
- Remove shaft lock retainer (4) from steering shaft (40) using J 23653-A to slightly depress shaft lock (5).
- Remove steering shaft lock (5).
- Remove turn signal cancel cam assembly (6).
- Remove upper bearing spring (7). Turn signal must be in "Neutral" position to remove upper bearing spring (7).
- Remove turn signal lever. Before removing turn signal lever, position switch so that screws (8) can be removed through opening in turn signal switch (9).
- Remove screws (8).
- Remove turn signal switch (9).
- Remove wire protector (37).
- Remove turn signal switch connector.
- Disconnect buzzer switch wires from turn signal switch connector using J 35689-A.
- Disconnect buzzer switch assembly (10) using needle nose pliers.
- Place lock cylinder (16) in "Accessory" position.
- Remove lock retaining screw (13).
- Remove steering column lock cylinder set (16)
- Remove turn signal switch assembly (9) and gently pull wires and connector through steering column housing shroud (48).
