Air Flow Meter/Sensor Relay: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor relay supplies the MAF / Manifold Air Temperature (MAT) sensor assembly with battery voltage.

OPERATION
The MAT/MAF Sensor relay is energized by battery voltage from the ignition switch when in the "RUN" or "START" Position. This voltage creates a magnetic field and closes the electrical contacts inside the relay. Battery voltage is then supplied to the MAT/MAF Sensor allowing the MAF section of the assembly to operate.

NOTICE: If the Speed Density Update has been performed, the relay will be disconnected. This disables the MAF portion, but allows the MAT sensor to operate. Refer to Application and ID. Application and ID
