Cruise Release Switch Test
- With the ignition on and engagement switch in "ON" position, measure voltage by probing pin G on control module (circuit No. 86) to ground with voltmeter. If voltage is zero, go to step 3). If voltage is 12 volts, measure voltage from brake release switch (circuit No. 86) to a good ground with brake pedal depressed.
- If voltage is 12 volts, check brake and/or clutch release switch for adjustment. Replace or adjust as necessary. If voltage is zero, brake release switch is okay. If vehicle is equipped with manual transmission or transaxle, make sure there is continuity through clutch release switch.
- If voltage measured in step 1) is zero volts, measure voltage by probing brake release switch (circuit No. 86) to ground. If measured voltage is 12 volts, find open in circuit No. 86 between cruise module connector pin G and brake release switch connector. Repair or replace as necessary.
- If voltage measured in step 3) is zero volts, measure voltage at brake release switch (circuit No. 397) and ground. If voltage measured is zero, perform ENGAGEMENT SWITCH TEST . If the voltage is 12 volts, check brake and/or clutch release switch for adjustment. Adjust or replace as necessary.
