ECM Programmable Read Only Memory (Prom): Removal

1. Remove ECM as previously described. Remove PROM access cover. Note position of PROM before removal.
2. Grasp narrow ends of PROM with PROM removal tool, included with replacement PROM. See Fig 1 . Gently rock carrier from end-to-end while applying firm upward force until PROM is removed. Remove PROM from carrier.

NOTE: PROMs are not interchangeable from generation to generation. Be sure part number of replacement PROM matches original PROM. Correct PROM application can be verified by comparing PROM ID in parameter ".1.3/P.1.3" to number on new PROM.
