RAP System Circuit Operation

The RAP system provides power to operate several vehicle accessories after the engine has been running and the ignition switch has been turned to OFF or LOCK, but before any door is opened.

Voltage is applied at all times to the coils of RAP Relay No. 1 and RAP Relay No. 2. When the ignition is turned to RUN, the BCM senses that the ignition is in RUN and grounds the relay coils at BCM terminal 2A-11.

RAP Relay No. 1 and No. 2 coils are now energized and the contacts close. Voltage is now applied to through RAP Relay No. 1 to the left and right door switches and Fuse 16 from circuit breaker 21.

When the ignition is turned to OFF or LOCK, the BCM will keep the relays energized for ten minutes unless a door is opened. If a door is opened, the door ajar switch closes and the BCM door ajar input is grounded. The BCM will now disconnect the relay coils from ground.
