Ignition Switch: Removal

  1. Disconnect and shield negative battery cable. Ensure front wheels are in straight ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. On vehicles with SIR, remove SIR fuse from fuse block. Disconnect the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and Yellow 2-way SIR harness connector at base of steering column.
  2. On all models, remove knee bolster and deflector at base of steering column. Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Remove shift indicator cable. Remove nuts from steering column bracket. Disconnect electrical connectors from dimmer switch and ignition switch.
  3. Remove screws from dimmer switch. Remove dimmer switch from dimmer switch rod. Remove screws from ignition switch. Remove ignition switch from ignition switch rod. See Figure.
