Note On Intermittents

If all the noted codes are set history codes, then isolation of the short becomes more difficult. Inspect harness and connectors for shorts to ground or voltage. Also ensure good ground connections at G100, G102, G200, G300, G400 and G401, refer to ELECTRICAL COMPONENT LOCATOR article for ground locations.

NOTE: The following step numbers refer to circled numbers on diagnostic chart. See Fig 1 . For circuit identification, see Fig 2 .
  1. All the listed codes set current indicates that the condition is now present and it is not an intermittent.
  2. Removing and reinstalling maxi-fuses 6 and 7 assures that all OSM's are reset to the lights off status. Disconnecting the dash-to-forward lamp harness connector (DA-FL) will remove the short and allow normal operation of the right rear tail lamps only if the short is within the forward lamp harness.
  3. If the right rear tail lamps operate with the DA-FL and the DA-left tail lamp jumper removed, then the short is in the left tail jumper or in circuit 928G or 928H.
  4. The short must exist between the DA-FL connector and the DA-tail jumper on the BCM side of the data circuit.
  5. Reconnecting the DA-FL connector will determine if 928G and 928H are suspect for the short.
