PCM Input Displays
The PCM Inputs selection is to provide for testing of inputs to the PCM. The input status is shown on the display as HI or LO, the input cycle status is shown as 0 until the PCM sees that the input has cycled from LO to HI or HI to LO.
After the PCM has seen the input cycle, the 0 will change to an X to indicate that the input being tested has cycled and has "Passed" the input test. If the Inputs will not cycle or an intermittent input is suspected, refer to DIAGNOSTIC TESTS for input diagnostic tests. The following is a list of Inputs for the PCM:
- EI70 - CRUISE BRAKE SWITCH
This test detects the open and close of the Cruise Control brake switch at terminal C2 of the PCM.- HI
Brake switch is closed and that the PCM has 12 volts at the cruise brake switch input (cruise switch must be ON). - LO
Brake switch is open and that the PCM has 0 volts at the input. - X
The brake pedal has been depressed and a change in switch state has been detected.
- HI
- EI71 - VCC BRAKE SWITCH
This test detects the open and close of the VCC brake switch at terminal C4 of the PCM.- HI
Brake switch is closed and that the PCM has 12 volts at the VCC brake switch input. - LO
Brake switch is open and that the PCM has 0 volts at its input. - X
The brake pedal has been depressed and a change in switch state has been detected.
- HI
- EI72 - THROTTLE
This test detects the open and close of the ISC nose switch at terminal A7 of the PCM.- HI
Throttle switch is open and the PCM has 5 volts at the throttle switch input. - LO
Throttle switch is closed and the PCM has 0 volts at the throttle switch input. - X
X means that the throttle pedal has been depressed and a change in switch state has been detected.
- HI
- EI79 - 2ND GEAR PRESSURE SWITCH
The second gear switch is a normally closed switch in the transmission that opens when second gear oil is applied with sufficient pressure to allow downshifts (second gear oil is available to the switch when the transmission is in second, third, or fourth gear). The second gear switch grounds the second gear input when the transmission is in first gear or when the transmission is in second, third, or fourth with low oil pressure (0 volts at the PCM).- HI
Second gear oil is available with sufficient pressure to allow downshifts without slippage and that the switch is open. - LO
Transmission is in first gear or the transmission is in second, third, or fourth with low oil pressure and the switch is closed.
- HI
- EI82 - CRUISE ON/OFF SWITCH
This test detects the open and close of the Cruise Switch mounted on the dash at terminal D2 of the PCM. To activate this test place the switch in the ON position.- HI
ON/OFF switch is on and the PCM has 12 volts at the cruise enable input. - LO
ON/OFF switch is off and the PCM has 0 volts at the cruise control input. - X
X means that the ON/OFF switch has been turned on or off and a change in switch state has been detected.
- HI
- EI83 - CRUISE SET/COAST SWITCH
This test detects the close of the Set/Coast switch in the turn signal lever at terminal D8 of the PCM. To activate this test depress the Set/Coast button.- HI
SET/COAST button is closed (pushed) and the PCM has 12 volts on the SET/COAST input. - LO
SET/COAST button is open (not pushed) and the PCM has 0 volts on the SET/COAST input. - X
X means that the SET/COAST switch has been depressed and a change in switch state has been detected.
- HI
- EI84 - CRUISE RESUME/ACCEL SWITCH
This test detects the close of the Resume/Accel switch in the turn signal lever at terminal C3 of the PCM. To activate this test slide the Resume/Accel switch.- HI
RESUME/ACCEL button is closed (pushed) and the PCM has 12 volts on the RESUME/ACCEL input. - LO
RESUME/ACCEL button is open (not pushed) and the PCM has 0 volts on the RESUME/ACCEL input. - X
RESUME/ACCEL switch has been depressed and a change in switch state has been detected.
- HI
