PASS-Key System Verification
- Ensure system will detect the use of an incorrect key by turning off engine. Disconnect PASS-Key connector at base of steering column. Connect Interrogator (J-35628) to connector. Set key code on interrogator to an incorrect key code. Attempt to start engine.
- If engine cranks, replace PASS-Key decoder module and repeat PASS-KEY DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK. If engine does not crank within 3 minute lockout period while SECURITY indicator is on, disconnect interrogator and reconnect connector at base of steering column. Attempt to start engine. If engine cranks, replace decoder module and repeat PASS-KEY DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK.
- If engine does not crank, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Wait at least 3 minutes (until SECURITY light goes off) to end of lock-out period and attempt to start vehicle. If engine does not start, see NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS . If engine does start, system is functioning correctly. If an intermittent problem is suspected, see NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS.
