Input Test EI82 Cruise On/Off Switch Test

Test Conditions

After diagnostic trouble codes have been displayed, Driver Information Center (DIC) will display ECM?. Depress HI blower button. Display will change to read ECM DATA?. Depress LO blower button. Display will change to read ECM INPUTS?.

Depress HI blower button. Display will change to read C/C BRAKE EI70. Place cruise control slider switch in OFF position. Depress LO blower button 4 times. Display will change to read LO 0 C/C ON/OFF EI73. When cruise control slider switch is placed in ON position, display will change to read HI X. Change from 0 to X indicates that test has been successfully completed.

Action

This test detects open and close of cruise control switch located on cruise control stalk switch mounted on dash at terminal D2 of PCM. This test should be performed before attempting tests EI83 and EI84. This test verifies that there is power to switches and PCM.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.

LO indicates that cruise control ON/OFF switch is open. HI indicates switch is closed.
