DTC P110: Generator "L" - Terminal Circuit Problem: Description
This diagnostic monitors the generator feedback and compares it to the generator control in the PCM. When the PCM commands the generator to be on and the feedback indicates that it is "OFF" for 15 seconds, Code P110 will set.
The PCM initiates generator operation by supplying a 12V signal to the generator "L" terminal over CKT 225. The generator regulator applies voltage to the rotor as a pulse signal to energize the field windings.
The generator can detect internal faults. If this occurs for 15 seconds, the PCM will set Code P110. The generator can self-diagnose a shorted output diode, malfunctioning regulator, open or shorted rotor, over or under voltage condition, shaft not rotating, or open sense lead.
