Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

Ignition System Components:






REMOVE OR DISCONNECT


1. Remove distributor cap and rotor.
2. Remove two module attaching screws.
3. Lift up module and stamped metal shield, if equipped.
4. Disconnect leads from module. Observe color code on leads as these cannot be interchanged.
5. Remove module.

NOTE: Be sure there is a sufficient amount of silicone grease on the metal face of the module and on the distributor base (where the module seats), when reinstalling the module. The purpose of the silicone grease is to transfer heat away from the module.


INSTALL OR CONNECT


1. Install module.
2. Connect leads to module.
3. Install module shield, if equipped, and module attaching screws.
4. Install cap and rotor.
