Note On Intermittents

Do not diagnose Code P053 unless symptom is stumble, stall, miss or other driveability condition that could be caused by loss of spark, ignition or fuel.

This code can be caused by loss of battery power to B+ terminal of distributor, intermittent short or open in pick-up coil or module connection, or improperly seated terminals and mating to PCM connector.
