DTC PZ2042, Loss Of Serial Communications - Abs/TCS
PZM transmits UART data signals to controllers for bus and maintains a counter which increments with each signal to control module. When control module responds to signal, counter is cleared. PZ2042 will set when PZM signal counter for device exceeds 20. When DTC PZ2042 is set, PZM will send a class 2 signal to instrument panel cluster to illuminate TRACTION CONTROL indicator. DTC PZ2042 will clear when PZM does not detect a malfunction for one monitoring cycle.
If DTC PZ2056 and PZ2088 are also set as current, check for short to ground or battery in circuit between control modules. Ensure anti-lock brake/traction control system is operating properly with exception of loss of communication. If anti-lock brake system/traction control system is not operating properly, repair as necessary. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK/TCS article. If anti-lock brake system/traction control system is okay, check for poor connections at Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module (EBTCM). If connections are okay, replace EBTCM.
