DTC PZ2470, Daytime Running Lights Fault: Testing

  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Turn headlights on with high beams. If left high beam is off, go to step 4). If left high beam is on, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Turn headlights off. Remove DRL relay "F". Disconnect PZM connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between DRL relay "F" connector terminal No. 85 and ground. If voltage is greater than one volt, repair short to battery in daytime running lights circuit between DRL relay "F" and PZM. If voltage is one volt or less, go to next step.
  3. Install DRL relay "F". Using DVOM, measure voltage between PZM connector terminal C5 and ground. If voltage is greater than one volt, replace DRL relay "F". If voltage is one volt or less, replace PZM.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Turn headlights off. Remove DRL relay "F". Disconnect PZM connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between DRL relay "F" connector terminal No. 86 and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in daytime running lights circuit between DRL relay "F" and PZM. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  5. Install DRL relay "F". Disconnect PZM connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between PZM connector terminal C5 and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace DRL relay "F". If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace PZM.
