Anti-Lock Brake System: Diagnosis: Notes

NOTE: To diagnose Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), manufacturer recommends using Tech 1 Scan Tool (94-00101-A) with mass storage cartridge. Some diagnostic procedures will require Breakout Box(J-39700 and J-41247).

The EBTCM has self-diagnostic capability, which can detect system failures. Fault codes stored by EBTCM can be displayed using self-diagnostics or Tech 1 scan tool.

Begin ABS/TCS system diagnosis with PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION procedure. If failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, perform necessary repairs and then proceed with appropriate chart under ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECKABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK CHARTS . If no failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, go to appropriate chart under ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK CHARTS . The ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK CHART will either indicate ABS/TCS is functioning properly or direct the technician to various diagnostic procedures such as diagnostic charts, symptom diagnosis or BRAKE warning light diagnosis.
