DTC 24, Courtesy Output Circuit (Circuit Shorted To Battery): Testing

  1. Open any door or turn courtesy lights on at headlight switch. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect CCM connector C2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using DVOM, measure voltage between CCM connector C2 terminal C12 and ground. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, go to step 3).
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check for poor connections at CCM connector. If connections are okay, reconnect CCM connector and all other components. Clear DTCs and check if DTC resets. If DTC resets, replace CCM. If DTC does not reset, problem may be intermittent. Try to recreate fault while performing test by wiggling wiring and connectors. Check for poor connections at all connectors that may be causing intermittent condition.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove DIL relay. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using DVOM, measure voltage between CCM connector C2 terminal C12 and ground. If voltage is less than one volt, repair short to battery in DIL supply circuit between relay and DIL-controlled components. If voltage is greater than one volt, repair short to battery in courtesy lights output circuit.
