DTC 27, VES Output Circuit (Circuit Shorted To Battery): Notes
Variable Effort Steering (VES) enable circuit, VES Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) output circuit and power steering pump/EVO actuator conduct Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) for variable effort system. CCM has ability to detect problem in VES circuits.
DTC 27 will set when ignition switch is in RUN position, VES function is off, VES enable circuit is not grounded by CCM, and CCM terminal C13 voltage is greater than 3 volts (153 A/D counts). CCM checks for fault once each ignition cycle and will set DTC if fault is present.
When DTC 27 is set, VES enable circuit, VES (PWM) output circuit or power steering pump/EVO actuator is shorted to battery. CCM will completely disable VES system and power steering will return to normal. DTC 27 will clear if fault goes away for 2 or more seconds.
