DTC 34, Headlight Enable Circuit (Circuit Shorted To Battery): Notes

Headlight relay coil circuit is part of headlight system. CCM uses headlight enable circuit to control headlights. In addition to CCM control of headlights, headlights can be turned on by grounding headlight enable circuit at Remote Control Door lock Receiver/Theft Deterrent (RCDLR/TD) module or headlight switch.

DO NOT turn headlight switch on with DTC 34 set. Excessive current flow in headlight enable circuit may cause headlight switch to short out.

DTC 34 will set if headlight enable circuit stays near battery voltage when CCM is trying to ground it to enable headlights to illuminate. DTC can only set if fault last more than 2 seconds when CCM commands headlights on.

When DTC 34 is set, headlights will not illuminate. DTC 34 will clear if fault goes away for 2 or more seconds.
