DTC 40, Delay Pot Circuit (Circuit Shorted To Ground): Notes

CCM provides a 5-volt input signal on twilight delay pot circuit, through delay rheostat for twilight sentinel portion of headlight switch and returns to CCM. Delay feature is only used to control amount of time headlights and parking lights remain on after ignition switch is turned off.

DTC 40 will set when ignition switch is turned to RUN position and input voltage at CCM connector C1 terminal B3 is .862 volt or less for more than 2 seconds.

When DTC 40 is set, twilight delay function will not operate. DTC 40 will clear if fault goes away for 2 or more seconds.
