DTC 40, Delay Pot Circuit (Circuit Shorted To Ground): Testing

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect CCM connectors C1 and C2. Disconnect headlight switch connector C1. Using DVOM, measure resistance between CCM connector C2 terminal C16 and ground. If resistance is 0-5 ohms, repair short to ground in return signal circuit. If resistance is not 0-5 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Using DVOM, measure resistance between CCM connector C1 terminal B3 and ground. If resistance is 0-5 ohms, repair short to ground in twilight delay pot circuit. If resistance is not 0-5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Using DVOM, check for continuity between headlight switch terminals "A" and "F". If resistance is 0-5 ohms, replace headlight switch. If resistance is not 0-5 ohms, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check for poor connections at CCM connector. If connections are okay, reconnect CCM connector and all other components. Clear DTCs and check if DTC resets. If DTC resets, replace CCM. If DTC does not reset, problem may be intermittent. Try to recreate fault while performing test by wiggling wiring and connectors. Check for poor connections at all connectors that may be causing intermittent condition.
