DTC B2115-B2120: Sensor Failed: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Cadillac DeVille. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Memory Seat Module (MSM) receives inputs from seat and lumbar position sensors during memory set, memory recall and easy exit functions. As motor moves seat and lumbar support, potentiometers in position sensors vary in resistance. MSM receives a variable voltage input depending on resistance of potentiometer. During memory set, MSM records voltage across all seat and lumbar potentiometers. During memory recall, MSM moves motors until voltage across each potentiometer matches stored voltages. During easy exit, MSM moves seat motors until voltages matched stored voltages. During normal operation, position sensors are checked against out-of-range limits.

DTCs will not set if DTC B1982 or B1983 is current. Appropriate MSM DTC will set when a position sensor out-of-range is detected. MSM will set appropriate DTC when it detects the sensor input voltage is out of range (less than 0.25 volts or greater than 4.75 volts). When DTC is set, MSM will disable suspect motor during memory recall and easy exit functions. Motor will remain enabled for manual positioning. DTC will clear when MSM does not detect position sensor failure during last monitoring cycle.
