Test No. 1: Wipers Do Not Operate In Any Mode
- Disconnect wiper motor 3-pin connector C2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Turn wiper/washer switch to HI position. Connect test light between chassis ground and wiper motor connector terminal "A" (Purple wire). If test light is off, go to step 6).
- If test light is on, connect test light between wiper motor 3-pin connector C2, terminals "A" (Purple wire) and "C" (Black wire). If test light is off, repair open Black wire.
- If test light is on, reconnect wiper/washer switch connector C2. Disconnect wiper motor 8-pin connector C1. Connect test light between chassis ground and wiper motor 8-pin connector C1, terminal "C" (Gray wire). If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, check for open Gray wire. If Gray wire is okay, replace wiper switch assembly.
- Turn wiper switch to LO position. Connect test light between chassis ground and wiper motor 8-pin connector terminal "H" (Dark Green wire). If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, check for open Dark Green wire. If Dark Green wire is okay, replace wiper/washer switch.
- Using a DVOM, check continuity of Yellow wire between wiper motor 3-pin connector C2, terminal "B" and 8-pin connector C1, terminal "A". If there is no continuity, repair open Yellow wire. If there is continuity, check for poor wiring connection at wiper motor. If connection is okay, replace wiper motor cover (circuit board). See Fig 1 and Fig 2
. If symptom still exists, replace wiper motor.
- Reconnect wiper motor 3-pin connector C2. Disconnect wiper switch connector C202. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect test light between chassis ground and wiper/washer switch connector C202 terminal E5 (Yellow wire). If test light is off, go to next step. If test light is on, check for poor connection between accessory relay and wiper switch. Repair as necessary. If connections are okay, repair open Yellow wire. If wire is okay, replace wiper/washer switch.
- Reconnect wiper/washer switch connector C202. Connect test light between chassis ground and accessory relay connector terminal A1 (Orange wire). If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, replace 30-amp fuse A9 or repair open Orange wire.
- Connect test light between chassis ground and fused (10-amp C13) side of accessory relay connector terminal A3 (Yellow wire). If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, replace fuse C13 or repair open Yellow wire.
- Connect test light between fused side (10-amp C13) of accessory relay connector terminal A3 (Yellow wire) and accessory relay terminal B1 (ground wire). If test light is on, check for open Yellow wire between accessory relay and wiper switch. If Yellow wire is okay, replace accessory relay. If test light is off, repair Black ground wire.
