DTC U1162: Loss Of Left Rear Door Module Simple Bus Serial Data: Testing

  1. Perform Door Control System Check. See DOOR CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. After performing system check, go to next step.
  2. If DTC U1161 is also set, go to DTC U1161. If DTC U1161 is not set, go to next step.
  3. Remove and check RRDM MDL fuse located in rear junction block. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step 7).
  4. Do not reinstall RRDM MDL fuse. Disconnect Left Rear Door Module (LRDM) 20-pin connector C1 (Black). Using DVOM connected to ground, measure resistance at LRDM connector C1 terminal No. 11 (Orange wire). If resistance is infinite, go to step 6). If resistance is not infinite, go to next step.
  5. Repair short to ground in circuit No. 840 (Orange wire) between LRDM and rear junction block. Recheck system operation.
  6. Reconnect all previously disconnected components. Replace RRDM MDL fuse with a known good fuse. Wait 10 seconds. Remove and inspect NEW RRDM MDL fuse. If NEW RRDM MDL fuse is blown, go to step 15). If fuse is okay, recheck system operation.
  7. Reinstall RRDM MDL fuse. Disconnect LRDM connector C1. Using DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at LRDM connector C1 terminal No. 11 (Orange wire). If battery voltage exists, go to step 9). If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  8. Repair open or high resistance in circuit No. 840 (Orange wire) between LRDM and rear junction block. Recheck system operation.
  9. Using DVOM connected to ground, measure resistance at LRDM connector C1 terminal No. 4 (Tan/White wire). If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 11). If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to next step.
  10. Repair open or high resistance in circuit No. 551 (Tan/White wire) between LRDM and ground. Recheck system operation.
  11. Disconnect LFDM connector C1. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Tan/White wire between LRDM connector C1 terminal No. 15 and LFDM connector C1 terminal No. 6. If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 13). If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to next step.
  12. Repair open or high resistance in circuit No. 2076 (Tan/White wire) between LFDM and LRDM. Recheck system operation.
  13. Replace LRDM. Recheck system operation.
