DTC B3031: Key Decoder In Assembly Learn Mode

The PASS-Key III(R) Theft Deterrent (VTD) Module performs an internal test to determine if module is in Learn Coded Key mode every 300 milliseconds. If test indicates module is in Learn Coded Key mode, DTC B3031 will set. No warning message will be displayed. When a new module is installed, module is in Learn Coded Key mode.

1. Perform PASSKEY III(R) SYSTEM CHECK  . After performing system check, go to next step.
2. Perform PASS-Key III(R) SYSTEM AUTO LEARN PROCEDURE under PROGRAMMING. Turn ignition off. Clear any DTCs. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. If DTC B3031 exists, go to next step. If DTC does not exist, system is okay.
3. Replace VTD module. After replacing module, go to next step.
4. Turn ignition off. Reconnect all connectors. Turn ignition on. Clear any DTCs. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. If all DTCs are cleared, go to PASSKEY III(R) SYSTEM CHECK  .
