DTC U1161: Loss Of Right Front Door Module Simple Bus Serial Data: Testing

  1. Perform door control system check. See DOOR CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. After performing system check, go to next step.
  2. If DTCs U1162 and U1163 are also set, go to step 11). If DTCs U1162 and 1163 are not set, go to next step.
  3. Remove and check PASS MDL fuse located in rear junction block. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step 7).
  4. Do not reinstall PASS MDL fuse. Disconnect Right Front Door Module (RFDM) 20-pin connector C1 (Black). Using DVOM connected to ground, measure resistance at RFDM connector C1 terminal No. 11 (Orange wire). If resistance is infinite, go to step 6). If resistance is not infinite, go to next step.
  5. Repair short to ground in circuit No. 740 (Orange wire) between RFDM and rear junction block. Recheck system operation.
  6. Reconnect all previously disconnected components. Replace PASS MDL fuse with a known good fuse. Wait 10 seconds. Remove and inspect NEW PASS MDL fuse. If NEW PASS MDL fuse is blown, go to step 15). If fuse is okay, recheck system operation.
  7. Reinstall PASS MDL fuse. Disconnect RFDM connector C1. Using DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at RFDM connector C1 terminal No. 11 (Orange wire). If battery voltage exists, go to step 9). If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  8. Repair open or high resistance in circuit No. 740 (Orange wire) between RFDM and rear junction block. Recheck system operation.
  9. Using DVOM connected to ground, measure resistance at RFDM connector C1 terminal No. 4 (Black/White wire). If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 11). If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to next step.
  10. Repair open or high resistance in circuit No. 41 (Black/White wire) between RFDM and ground. Recheck system operation.
  11. Disconnect LFDM connector C1. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Tan/White wire between RFDM connector C1 terminal No. 15 and LFDM connector terminal No. 6. If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 13). If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to next step.
  12. Repair open or high resistance in circuit No. 2076 (Tan/White wire) between RFDM and LFDM. Recheck system operation.
  13. Using DVOM connected to ground, measure resistance at RFDM connector C1 terminal No. 15 (Tan/White wire). If resistance is infinite, go to step 15). If resistance is not infinite, go to next step.
  14. Repair short to ground in circuit No. 2076 (Tan/White wire) between LFDM and RFDM. Recheck system operation.
  15. Replace RFDM. Recheck system operation.
