Diagnostic Procedure
- If power seats system check was performed, go to next step. If power seats system check was not performed, go to SYSTEM CHECKS under TROUBLE SHOOTING in POWER SEATS - DEVILLE & ELDORADO article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect front vertical position sensor connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between front vertical position sensor harness connector terminal "B" (Gray wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If about zero volts exists, go to step 6 . If about zero volts does not exist, go to next step.
- If about 12 volts exists, go to step 7 . If about 12 volts does not exist, go to next step.
- Disconnect MSM Natural, 26-pin connector C1. Using DVOM, measure resistance between MSM harness connector C1 terminal No. 13 (Gray wire) and ground. See Figure . If 5 ohms exists, go to next step. If 5 ohms does not exist, go to step 8 .
- Replace MSM. See MEMORY SEAT MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step 9 .
- Repair short to ground in circuit No. 788 (Gray wire) between position sensor and MSM. Go to step 9 .
- Repair short to voltage in circuit No. 788 (Gray wire) between position sensor and MSM. Go to step 9 .
- Repair open in circuit No. 788 (Gray wire) between MSM and splice S348. Go to next step.
- Clear DTCs. Reconnect all disconnected connectors. Recheck system operation.
