Diagnostic Procedure

  1. If power seats system check was performed, go to next step. If power seats system check was not performed, go to SYSTEM CHECKS under TROUBLE SHOOTING in POWER SEATS - DEVILLE & ELDORADO article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect front vertical position sensor connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between front vertical position sensor harness connector terminal "B" (Gray wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If about zero volts exists, go to step  6 . If about zero volts does not exist, go to next step.
  3. If about 12 volts exists, go to step  7 . If about 12 volts does not exist, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect MSM Natural, 26-pin connector C1. Using DVOM, measure resistance between MSM harness connector C1 terminal No. 13 (Gray wire) and ground. See Figure . If 5 ohms exists, go to next step. If 5 ohms does not exist, go to step  8 .
  5. Replace MSM. See MEMORY SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  9 .
  6. Repair short to ground in circuit No. 788 (Gray wire) between position sensor and MSM. Go to step  9 .
  7. Repair short to voltage in circuit No. 788 (Gray wire) between position sensor and MSM. Go to step  9 .
  8. Repair open in circuit No. 788 (Gray wire) between MSM and splice S348. Go to next step.
  9. Clear DTCs. Reconnect all disconnected connectors. Recheck system operation.
