DTC B1780: Theft Lock Enabled: Description

Modules connected to class 2 device use Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to learn what vehicle BCM is installed. When ignition is in on position, the BCM sends a signal along class 2 serial data link to Integrated Radio Controller (IRC) inside radio. The IRC will compare last 6 digits of VIN sent from the BCM with those stored in memory. IRC sets DTC B1780 in memory, radio will display "THEFTLOCK ACTIVE" and all radio functions will be disabled if reported VIN does not match that in memory or if no VIN was reported since battery power was restored to IRC.

DTC B1780 will clear when IRC receives correct VIN from BCM over class 2 device. A scan tool can also be used to clear code from memory.
