DTC B2556: EEPROM Error: Description

Keyless entry receiver is integrated into the BCM. DTC B2556 testing is run for each ignition ON cycle. Keyless entry receiver detects that stored checksum on EEPROM does not match the calculated checksum when ignition is first turned to ON position. DTC B2556 will clear when checksum calculated matches checksum stored on EEPROM or when scan tool is used. A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles if conditions for fault no longer exist. An ignition cycle must occur before DTC can change from current to history status.
