Power Seat Inoperative
NOTE:
This procedure applies to vehicles equipped with memory systems only (A45). For option code definition, see REGULAR PRODUCTION OPTION CODES
under DESCRIPTION.
- If power seats diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If power seats diagnostic system check was not performed, go to POWER SEATS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select MEMORY SEAT MODULE data list. Monitor seat directional parameters. Operate driver's power seat switch in direction of displayed parameter. If seat directional parameter does not change, go to next step. If seat directional parameter changes, go to step 6 .
- Connect test light to ground. Backprobe any terminal at Memory Seat Module (MSM) connector C3. See Figure . Move seat switch to corresponding position of terminal being probed. See SEAT SWITCH INPUT CIRCUITS table. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, go to step 6 .
- Check for open or high resistance in Orange wire between power seat switch connector terminal "J" and MEM T&T fuse (30-amp) located in rear fuse block. See Figure . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If faulty circuit is found and repaired, go to step 9 .
- Check for poor connections at driver's power seat switch connector. If connections are okay, go to step 7 . If faulty connections are found and repaired, go to step 9 .
- Check for poor connections at MSM connectors. If connections are okay, go to step 8 . If faulty connections are found and repaired, go to step 9 .
- Replace power seat switch. See DRIVER'S POWER SEAT SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 9 .
- Replace MSM. See MEMORY SEAT MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- Recheck driver's power seat operation. If power seat malfunction is still present, go to step 2 . If power seat malfunction is no longer present, repair is complete.
