Test No. 13: Parallel Park Mode Inoperative

  1. If outside mirrors system check was performed, go to next step. If outside mirrors system check was not performed, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Memory Mirror Module (MMM) connector C1. Using DVOM, measure resistance between MMM connector C1 terminals E10 (Brown/White wire) and E12 (Purple/White wire). See Figure . If resistance is not 2-8 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2-8 ohms, go to step  7 .
  3. Disconnect right outside mirror connector C1. Measure resistance of Purple/White and Brown/White wires between right outside mirror and MMM. If resistance is less than infinite (OL), go to next step. If resistance is infinite (OL), go to step  5 .
  4. Check for short to voltage or short to ground in Purple/White and Brown/White wires between right outside mirror and MMM. If faulty circuits are found and repaired, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If circuits are okay, go to next step.
  5. Reconnect MMM connectors. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between vertical motor drive circuit pins. Disregard polarity. If voltage is not 9-14 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 9-14 volts, go to step  10 .
  6. With DVOM still connected, monitor voltage reading. Place transmission in Reverse. Disregard polarity. If voltage is 9-14 volts, go to step  8 . If voltage is not 9-14 volts, go to step  10 .
  7. Check for shorts or opens in Purple/White and Brown/White wires between right outside mirror and MMM. If faulty circuits are found and repaired, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If circuits are okay, go to next step.
  8. Check for poor connections right outside power mirror connector. If faulty connections are found and repaired, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If connections are okay, go to next step.
  9. Replace right outside mirror. See POWER MIRRORS - ELDORADO article. After repairs, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  10. Replace MMM. See MEMORY MIRROR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
