Outside Mirror System Check

NOTE: Perform this check before diagnosing symptoms. If system does not operate as specified in test step, proceed to appropriate diagnosis and testing procedure under SYSTEM TESTS  unless specified otherwise.
  1. Place mirror select switch in left position. Operate mirror in all directions. Left outside mirror should move as commanded. If mirror does not move as commanded, go to appropriate test procedure under SYMPTOM TESTS in POWER MIRRORS - ELDORADO article.
  2. Place mirror select switch in right position. Operate mirror in all directions. Right outside mirror should move as commanded. If mirror does not move as commanded, go to appropriate test procedure under SYMPTOM TESTS in POWER MIRRORS - ELDORADO article.
  3. Press memory 1 button. Single beep should be heard and both mirrors should move to programmed position for position No. 1. If mirror does not move as commanded, go to appropriate test procedure under SYSTEM TESTS  .
  4. Press memory 2 button. Single beep should be heard and both mirrors should move to programmed position for position No. 2. If mirror does not move as commanded, go to appropriate test procedure under SYSTEM TESTS  .
  5. Press EXIT button. Left seat should move to programmed position for exit for last programmed driver. If mirror does not move as commanded, go to appropriate test procedure under SYSTEM TESTS  .
  6. Turn ignition on. Place shift lever into Reverse. Right outside mirror should tilt down approximately 7 degrees or to end of travel. If mirror does not move as commanded, go to appropriate test procedure under SYSTEM TESTS  .
  7. During suitable environmental conditions, turn on rear defogger and wait approximately 10 minutes to see if mirrors clear of frost or mist. If one or both mirrors do heat up and clear of mist or frost, go to appropriate test procedure under SYSTEM TESTS in REAR WINDOW & MIRROR DEFOGGERS - ELDORADO article.
