Removal & Installation (With UM5 Only)

  1. Open rear compartment lid. Remove cargo net and plastic screws attaching sill plate to vehicle. Remove sill plate. Remove rear compartment mat and spare tire cover retainer bolt. Remove spare tire cover, spare tire, scissor jack and mounting bolt.
  2. Remove 4 screws from OnStar(R) module bracket assembly, if equipped. Disengage retainers securing coaxial cable to seat back panel. Lower OnStar(R) module bracket assembly into rear compartment.
  3. Remove remote CD changer, if necessary. Remove cargo net trim panel retainers. Remove the push-in retainers located near the rear compartment lid hinges which retain the rear compartment trim panel. Remove rear compartment trim panel from vehicle.
  4. Amplifier is located on the bottom of one of the rear speakers. Location was not specified in service information. Disconnect the electrical connector from amplifier and remove screws attaching amplifier to base of speaker. To install, reverse removal procedure.
