Test 13: Power Seats - Memory Switch Inoperative

  1. Perform POWER SEAT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in POWER SEATS - SEVILLE article. Go to next step.
  2. Install a scan tool. Turn ignition switch to ON position, engine off. Using scan tool, observe MEMORY RECALL SWITCHES parameter in DRIVER DOOR SWITCH data list. Press memory SET button. If scan tool displays SET, go to next step. If scan tool does not display SET, go to step  4 .
  3. Using scan tool, observe MEMORY RECALL SWITCHES parameter. Press EXIT button. If scan tool displays EXIT, go to step  11 . If scan tool does not display EXIT, go to step  6 .
  4. Disconnect memory function switch connector. Using scan tool, observe MEMORY RECALL SWITCHES parameter. Momentarily connect fused jumper wire (3-amp) between ground and memory function switch connector terminal "C" (Orange wire). See Fig 1 . If scan tool displays SET, go to next step. If scan tool does not display SET, go to step  8 .

  5. Using scan tool, observe MEMORY RECALL SWITCHES parameter. Momentarily connect fused jumper wire (3-amp) between memory function switch connector terminals "C" (Orange wire) and "E" (Black/White wire). If scan tool displays SET, go to step  12 . If scan tool does not display SET, go to step  13 .
  6. Disconnect memory function switch connector. Using scan tool, observe MEMORY RECALL SWITCHES parameter. Momentarily connect fused jumper wire (3-amp) between ground and memory function switch connector terminal "A" (White wire). See Fig 1 . If scan tool displays MEMORY 1, go to next step. If scan tool does not display MEMORY 1, go to step  9 .
  7. Using scan tool, observe MEMORY RECALL SWITCHES parameter. Momentarily connect fused jumper wire (3-amp) between ground and memory function switch connector terminal "B" (Purple wire). If scan tool displays MEMORY 2, go to step  12 . If scan tool does not display MEMORY 2, go to step  10 .
  8. Check Orange wire between memory function switch and driver door switch assembly for an open. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  16 . If problem is not found, go to step  11 .
  9. Check White wire between memory function switch and driver door switch assembly for an open. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  16 . If problem is not found, go to step  11 .
  10. Check Purple wire between memory function switch and driver door switch assembly for an open. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  16 . If problem is not found, go to next step.
  11. Check driver door switch assembly connector for poor connections. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  16 . If problem is not found, go to step  14 .
  12. Check memory function switch connector for poor connections. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  16 . If problem is not found, go to step  15 .
  13. Repair open in Black/White wire between memory function switch and driver door switch. After repairs, go to step  16 .
  14. Replace driver door switch assembly. See DOOR SWITCHES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in POWER DOOR LOCKS - SEVILLE article. After repairs, go to step  16 .
  15. Replace memory function switch. See DOOR SWITCHES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in POWER DOOR LOCKS - SEVILLE article. After repairs, go to next step.
  16. Operate system to verify repair. If system operates normally, repair is complete. If system does not operate normally, return to step  2 .
