Test 5: One Window Inoperative (Except Left Front)

  1. Perform power window system check. See SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. After performing system check, go to next step.
  2. Connect scan tool. Select DATA from Driver Door Module (DDM) DATA list. Operate window switch at malfunctioning door in UP and DOWN positions. If scan tool indicates switch operates correctly, go to step  5 . If scan tool does not indicate switch operates correctly, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect inoperative window switch connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between inoperative window switch connector terminals No. 2 and 4 (component side) while pressing inoperative switch to DOWN position, and then measure resistance between inoperative window switch connector terminals No. 1 and 4 (component side) while pressing inoperative switch to UP position. If resistance for both measurements is 0-5 ohms, go to step  5 . If resistance for both measurements is not 0-5 ohms, go to next step.
  4. Replace inoperative window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
  5. Disconnect door module 20-pin connector C1 at inoperative window. Using DVOM, measure resistance between window switch connector terminal No. 4 and door module connector terminal No. 10. If resistance is 0-5 ohms, go to step  7 . If resistance is not 0-5 ohms, go to next step.
  6. If right front window is inoperative, repair open in Black/White wire between door module and window switch. If left rear or right rear window is inoperative, repair open in Tan/White wire between door module and window switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  7. Using DVOM, measure resistance between window switch connector terminal No. 1 and door module connector terminal No. 8. If resistance is 0-5 ohms, go to step  9 . If resistance is not 0-5 ohms, go to next step.
  8. If right front window is inoperative, repair open in Dark Green wire between door module and window switch. If left rear window is inoperative, repair open in White wire between door module and window switch. If right rear window is inoperative, repair open in circuit between door module and window switch (White wire that changes to Gray/Black wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  9. Using DVOM, measure resistance between window switch connector terminal No. 2 and door module connector terminal No. 9. If resistance is 0-5 ohms, go to step  11 . If resistance is not 0-5 ohms, go to next step.
  10. If right front window is inoperative, repair open in Orange wire between door module and window switch. If left rear window is inoperative, repair open in Yellow wire between door module and window switch. If right rear window is inoperative, repair open in circuit between door module and window switch (Yellow wire that changes to Dark Green wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  11. Disconnect power window motor connector at inoperative door. Using DVOM, measure voltage between window motor connector Brown and Dark Blue wire terminals while pressing switch in UP and DOWN positions. If battery voltage exists in both positions, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist in both positions, go to step  13 .
  12. Replace power window motor. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
  13. For rear doors, disconnect door module 4-pin connector C3. Measure resistance of Brown wire between door module connector C3 terminal "A" and window motor connector terminal "B". For right front door, disconnect door module 4-pin connector C5. Measure resistance of Brown wire between door module Connector C5 terminal "B" and window motor connector terminal "A". If resistance at any door is 0-5 ohms, go to step  15 . If resistance at any door is not 0-5 ohms, go to next step.
  14. Repair open or short to ground in Brown wire circuit between door module and window switch of inoperative door. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  15. For rear doors, measure resistance of Dark Blue wire between door module connector C3 terminal "B" and window motor connector terminal "C". For right front door, measure resistance of Dark Blue wire between door module connector C5 terminal "C" and window motor connector terminal "B". If resistance at any door is 0-5 ohms, go to step  17 . If resistance at any door is not 0-5 ohms, go to next step.
  16. Repair open or short to ground in Dark Blue wire circuit between door module and window motor of inoperative door. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  17. Replace door module at inoperative window. See DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
