Test 23: Parallel Park Mode Inoperative

  1. Perform OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Go to next step.
  2. Disconnect 8-pin Passenger Door Module (PDM) connector C4. Using DVOM, measure resistance of mirror vertical drive motor circuits between PDM C4 connector terminals No. 1 (Yellow wire) and No. 5 (Light Green wire). See Fig 1 . If reading is 2-8 ohms, go to step  7 . If reading is not 2-8 ohms, go to next step.

  3. Measure resistance between each vertical drive motor terminal and any other terminal in PDM connector C4. If any resistance is indicated, go to next step. If resistance is infinite (OL), go to step  5 .
  4. Check for short to ground or short between suspect circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If faulty circuit is found, repair as necessary. After repairs, return to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If circuits are okay, go to next step.
  5. Ensure all PDM connectors except C4 connector are connected. Turn ignition on, engine off. Using DVOM, measure voltage between PDM C4 connector terminals No. 1 (Yellow wire) and No. 5 (Light Green wire). Regardless of polarity, if battery voltage is indicated, go to step  10 . If battery voltage is not indicated, leave DVOM connected, and go to next step.
  6. Place gear shift lever in Reverse. If battery voltage is indicated, go to step  8 . If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step  10 .
  7. Check for short to ground or open in Yellow or Light Green wire between mirror and PDM. If faulty circuit is found, repair as necessary. After repairs, return to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If circuits are okay, go to next step.
  8. Check for poor connections at PDM connector C4. If faulty connections are found, repair as necessary. After repairs, return to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If connections are okay, go to next step.
  9. Replace right outside mirror. See POWER MIRROR ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in POWER MIRRORS - SEVILLE article. After repairs, return to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  10. Replace PDM. See DOOR CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in POWER MIRRORS - SEVILLE article. After repairs, return to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
