Programming Engine Control Module

CAUTION: DO NOT disturb tool harness during programming. If an interruption occurs during programming procedure, a programming failure or ECM damage may occur. DO NOT turn ignition off if programming procedure is interrupted or unsuccessful.
NOTE: Ensure all ECM and DLC connections are securely tightened and Techline operating software is up to date. Attempt to reprogram ECM. If ECM cannot be programmed, replace ECM.
  1. Turn ignition off. Select SERVICE PROGRAMMING SYSTEM on Techline Terminal. Select PASS-THRU as Diagnostic Tool. Specify PROGRAMMING PROCESS you are using.
  2. Select vehicle for ECU location. Complete vehicle information on CONNECT SCAN TOOL/DETERMINE VEHICLE screen. Turn ignition on, with engine off.
  3. Install Tech 2 scan tool to DLC. Connect RS-232 cable between Tech 2 scan tool and Techline terminal. Turn Tech 2 scan tool on and wait for START screen.
  4. Verify displayed VIN on Techline terminal with vehicle VIN. Correct VIN as necessary. Select type of module being programmed and type of programming. Select appropriate calibration file.
  5. Verify CURRENT CALIBRATION with SELECTED CALIBRATION then select NEXT. This will initiate download of calibration files. After download is complete, exit SERVICE PROGRAMMING.
  6. Turn ignition off for 30 seconds. If ECM was replaced, following procedures must be performed:
