Programming Security Code
CAUTION:
Only use arrow keys when entering security code using a scan tool. If an error is made more than 2 times when entering security code, module activates a security wait time. A 10-second waiting period occurs after the first and second time an error is made. A 10-minute waiting period occurs after the third time an error is made. Waiting times double consecutively after the third time an error is made. Any attempt to enter security code during a waiting period will fail. After waiting period counts down to zero, programming is possible. To view security wait time using scan tool, select SECURITY WAIT TIME in data list.
Security code programming is first procedure that is required in order to program a new Theft Deterrent Module. A scan tool is used to program theft deterrent module. A new security code consists of a 4 alpha/numeric character combination that can only be programmed into theft deterrent module ONE time. Once programmed, a code combination cannot be altered or erased. For this reason, proceed with great care. A new security code is always entered twice as a cross check. When scan tool compares entered codes, if a mismatch is detected, security code input must be repeated.
