Dash Integration Module: Notes

Dash Integration Module (DIM) functions as Power Mode Master (PMM) module. The DIM monitors accessory voltage, ignition 1 positive voltage, ignition 3 positive voltage and off/run/crank voltage signals from ignition switch for power moding control (ignition switch states).

The Dash Integration Module (DIM) is located under right side of instrument panel. See Fig 1. DIM controlled functions include power moding control (ignition switch states) over Class 2 serial data line, control of headlights, front foglights, exterior lights, interior lights dimming, steering wheel controls, horn relay control for theft activation, headlights on signal for wiper/washer, storage of clock settings, hood ajar switch, reverse lockout solenoid and low side temperature for Heater Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) compressor.

Since the operation of the vehicle systems depend on the power mode, there is a fail-safe plan in place should the PMM fail to send a power mode message. The fail-safe plan covers both modules using exclusively serial data control of power mode and modules that monitor ignition signal inputs.
