Remote Transmitter Programming

NOTE: Transmitters are numbered on back for reference only (can be programmed in any order).
NOTE: Scan tool must stay connected until all transmitters are programmed.

All transmitters which are to be recognized by the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) must be programmed in a single programming sequence. If system is placed in program mode, all previously programmed transmitters will be erased upon receipt of the programming signal from first transmitter. Up to 4 transmitters may be programmed. Do not operate or program transmitters in the vicinity of other vehicles that are in keyless entry program mode. This prevents programming of transmitters to incorrect vehicle. Order in which transmitters are programmed is important. The first transmitter programmed will be transmitter #1, and second transmitter programmed will be transmitter #2. Additional unnumbered transmitters can be programmed up to a maximum of 4. Use care to program transmitters correctly.

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure.
  2. Turn ignition on.
  3. Using scan tool, select REMOTE FUNCTION ACTUATION SPECIAL FUNCTION: PROGRAM KEY FOBS to place RCLDR into PROGRAM mode. Doors will lock and unlock to confirm program mode has been entered.
  4. Press and hold lock button and unlock button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of 15 seconds, doors will lock and unlock confirming programming of that transmitter.
  5. Repeat previous step to program up to 4 transmitters.
  6. Remove scan tool.
  7. Operate transmitter functions to verify correct system operation.
