Cruise Control Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, see TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition on. Try to establish communications with Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Instrument Cluster (IPC), and Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). If scan tool communicates with PCM, IPC, and EBCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with PCM, IPC and EBCM, see TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Select IPC display DTC function on scan tool. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
  4. Select ABS/TCS display DTC function on scan tool. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
  5. Select PCM display function on scan tool. If scan tool displays any DTCs, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - 4.6L DEVILLE, ELDORADO & SEVILLE article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, see SYSTEM TESTS in CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS - DEVILLE & ELDORADO.
