DTC P1554: Powertrain Control Module Detects Cruise Engaged Signal: Testing
- If cruise control diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If cruise control diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform appropriate CRUISE CONTROL DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM
.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, monitor DTC information in Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If DTC P1585 is not stored with P1554, go to next step. If DTC P1585 is stored with P1554, perform DTC P1585: CRUISE CONTROL INHIBIT OUTPUT CIRCUIT
.
- Using scan tool, observe cruise requested display. If cruise requested display does not indicate YES, go to next step. If cruise requested display indicates YES, go to step 5
.
- Review and record FAILURE RECORDS information on scan tool. Operate vehicle within Fail Records conditions. Using scan tool, monitor specific DTC information for DTC P1554 until test runs. If scan tool indicates DTC P1554 failed this ignition, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate DTC P1554 failed this ignition, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Cruise Control Module (CCM) 10-pin harness connector. On DeVille, CCM is located left side of firewall, near brake booster. On Eldorado, CCM is located on left front strut tower. On all models, turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe cruise requested display. If cruise requested display indicates YES, go to next step. If cruise requested display does not indicate YES, go to step 7
.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Inspect Light Blue/Black wire for a short to ground between ground and CCM harness connector terminal "J". See Fig 1
. If a short to ground is not found, go to step 8
. If a short to ground is found, repair Light Blue/Black wire as necessary. After repair, go to step 9
.
- Replace CCM. After repair, go to step 9
.
- Replace PCM. Program PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
under PROGRAMMING. After repair, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle within conditions for running DTC, as specified in code enable criteria. If DTC resets, repeat test beginning at step 2
