Test B: Memory Recall Position Inaccurate

  1. If door systems diagnostic systems check has been performed, go to next step. If door systems diagnostic systems check has not been performed, perform DOOR SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Ensure that personalization feature is enabled. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Adjust both outside mirrors to your preference. Using memory switch program mirrors. See PROGRAMMING MEMORY SEATS, MEMORY STEERING COLUMN & MEMORY MIRRORS  under PROGRAMMING. Readjust mirrors to an extreme position. Press previously programmed memory button. If mirrors return to programmed setting, problem may be intermittent. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If mirrors do not return to programmed setting, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe UP/DOWN and LEFT/RIGHT SENSOR parameters in suspect door module data list. Using mirror control switches, adjust mirrors to full up and sideways limits. Sensor parameter values should vary between .25-5.5 volts. If sensor parameter is as specified, go to step  8 . If sensor parameter is not as specified, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect appropriate door module Green 6-pin harness connector C5. Door modules are located behind trim panel in respective door. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and door module connector C5 pins No. 3. See Figure . If voltage is 4.5-5.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 4.5-5.5 volts, go to step  10 .
  5. Using scan tool, observe UP/DOWN and LEFT/RIGHT SENSOR parameters in suspect door module data list. Sensor parameter values should be 4.5-5.5 volts. If sensor parameter is as specified, go to next step. If sensor parameter is not as specified, go to step  10 .
  6. Connect fused (3-amp) jumper wire between door module harness connector C5 terminal No. 5 (Light Blue/Black wire) and No. 6 (Purple/Black wire). See Figure . Using scan tool, observe UP/DOWN and LEFT/RIGHT SENSOR parameters in suspect door module data list. Move jumper from door module harness connector C5 terminal No. 5 to No. 4 (Dark Green/Black wire), and observe sensor parameter. Sensor parameter values should be 0-0.5 volts. If sensor parameter is as specified, go to next step. If sensor parameter is not as specified, go to step  10 .
  7. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in door module harness connectors. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  11 . If no problem is found, go to step  9 .
  8. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in door module harness connectors. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  11 . If no problem is found, go to step  10 .
  9. Replace inoperative power mirror assembly. See POWER MIRROR ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step  11 .
  10. Replace inoperative door module. See DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step  11 .
  11. Operate power mirror system to verify repair. If system operates normally, testing is complete. If system does not operate normally, go to step  2 .
